Status Update (05/28/24)
We are well on our way to establishing the Friends of Stonebridge Ponds as a nonprofit 501(c)(4) organization. The paperwork has been submitted, and we have received our EIN number. We are now awaiting final approval from the IRS. In addition, we have opened a bank account to handle our finances, collect contributions, and pay our expenses. So far, our expenses have been minor, covering fees for the treatment permit and establishing the nonprofit organization.
A couple of gracious homeowners have advanced the funds needed to fast-track the pond treatments while we get organized. All funds have been directed towards our mission of preserving and enhancing the beauty of our ponds and community.
All the paperwork and fees for beginning treatments are completed. At this point, we are awaiting final approval of the permit. Once the permit is approved (hopefully soon), the treatment company (LakePro) will begin with the first of four treatments for the season. As soon as we know the date, we will announce it here.
Our current plan is to ask each homeowner directly on the pond to consider a contribution of $500 for the treatment season. In addition, other homeowners who enjoy the pond or pond view could consider a contribution of $250. Any unused portions of your contribution will be credited for the following year’s treatments.
We are still looking to fill a couple of positions on the Board of Directors. We currently have a President (George Crane), Secretary (Dave Hartmann), and Treasurer (Vivian Sanguett). The open positions are Vice President, Legal Advisor, and Communications Director. These positions will not require very much time, but having a full board is a big plus, and could be fun. If you are interested, please let us know.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Together, we can ensure that our ponds remain a beautiful and integral part of our community.
Warm regards,
The Friends of Stonebridge Ponds
